The Woman’s Board Endowed Fund for Research and Clinical Trials at Rush

Rush continues to thrive in an incredibly competitive environment for external research funding, such as grants from the National Institutes of Health. For many Rush investigators, their self-sustaining projects began as pilot studies first supported by The Woman’s Board or other private donors. In terms of research findings and subsequent grant funding, the return on this initial investment is exponential.

When a pilot study successfully transitions into larger-scale studies or clinical trials, it requires tremendous financial resources to effectively administer them. From regulatory and information technology personnel to research nurses and study coordinators, significant infrastructure is needed to engage patients and advance promising research. Private philanthropy, exemplified by The Woman’s Board, fuels these successful, often pioneering discoveries.

The Woman’s Board Endowed Fund for Research and Clinical Trials at Rush will continue a distinguished, 140-year tradition of providing sustainable endowment support, driving innovations in research, novel treatments, effective health care solutions and ongoing organizational growth. This important initiative will serve as the primary designation for future Woman’s Board campaign gifts both from Board fundraising events and individuals.

Each year, in perpetuity, this Woman’s Board fund will provide the dean of Rush Medical College with consistent income to be invested into Rush’s clinical trials and research laboratories where it is needed most, spanning all colleges and departments at Rush.  In future years, as the endowment balance grows through prudent investment, the fund will yield even greater resources to support Rush’s preeminent research endeavors.

Driving Discovery and Supporting Rush’s Mission. Forever.

While advancement in patient care is the core of this endowment, investing in Rush’s research and clinical trials programs supports all facets of the institution’s mission, helping to attract some of the best and brightest physicians, faculty and students, while expanding education, workforce development and community outreach opportunities. The Woman’s Board Endowed Fund for Research and Clinical Trials at Rush will create a permanent legacy of innovation and excellence.
